The IT Service Management Developer will perform configuration, development, and operational support tasks for all aspects of HNI’s Service Management platform including standard configuration, security, data management, reporting and integrations with third party applications while ensuring that data integrity and best practices are maintained. This role will work closely with process owners and stakeholders to deliver technical solutions via SCRUM methodology that solve problems while supporting the long-term health of the service management system.

The position’s responsibilities require independent analysis, design/documentation, coding, testing, communication, and problem solving. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative, organization, and judgment. May interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problem. Simulates or recreates customer problems to resolve operating difficulties. Recommends systems modifications to reduce customer problems and enhance system capabilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Coding for automation of business functionalities including enhancements and modification to existing applications

  • Translate functional requirements into technical specifications, designs, applies and documents new methods and procedures

  • Software/application installation, configuration, repair, deployment (system administration functions), documentation and execution of text cases

  • May participate in strategic projects and/or multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work “on call” as required.

  • Take ownership of escalated support issues and requests, perform root cause analysis, and find resolution to problems

  • Provide day-to-day IT support to business partner groups

  • Open service requests and collaborate with vendors to escalate and resolve issues

  • Set-up and monitor production environment including configuration and maintenance

  • Evaluates and communicates progress and results and recommends improvement changes in procedures

  • Administer performance testing and monitoring for all new applications and upgrades

  • Develop and maintain system setup of API integrations and web solutions.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or at least 2 years of equivalent experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Certifications:

  • ITIL preferred

Experience:

  • 1-2 years web development experience

  • 1-2 years customer service related experience including interactions with vendors or external partners

  • 1-2 years experience with troubleshooting

  • 1-2 years experience complying with service level agreements

  • 1-2 years of maintaining applications or systems

  • Experience working in a ticket based tracking system

  • Experience working in an Agile environment preferred

Skills:

  • Demonstrated understanding of service management best practices

  • Troubleshooting and configuration skills

  • Demonstrated ability to perform customer support

  • Technical knowledge of PC hardware and software products and support

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • May be required to hold a valid driver’s license

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to translate technical terms into non-technical language and maintain understanding of computer terms

  • Ability to work well with other people in a team oriented environment

  • Demonstrated understanding of service level agreements
