UnityPoint Health Adolescent Sexual Health Educator in Muscatine, Iowa

Provides adolescent sexual health education programming in the community.

Responsible for the planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation of school based adolescent sexual health programming for public health grant funded programs.

  • Plans and delivers adolescent sexual health programs/services that align with research based curricula.

  • Coordinates program schedules; plans and maintains appropriate program service schedules to maximize program efficiency.

  • Establishes collaborative relationships and works with schools, community groups, agencies and individuals.

  • Serve as school liaison by developing and sustaining strong relationships with partner schools.

  • Provides presentations and informational programs for schools, agencies, and the community.

  • Develops and maintains communications with interagency partners, community partners in order to provide support and assistance for adolescent sexual health education.

  • Maintains data and statistics in accordance with grant and governmental requirements.

  • Evaluates quality and effectiveness of programs and services for improvement: observes, compares, and monitors data to determine compliance and efficacy of determined interventions.

  • Assists with health fairs and other on-site duties as directed and as time allows.

  • Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.

  • Ability to meet timelines/deadlines for reports, grants and documentation as scheduled.

  • Follows-through to complete assignments within specified timeframes, and juggle several tasks simultaneously

  • Performs other such duties and functions as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, education, social work, counseling, psychology or human service related field, or a registered nurse.

  • Demonstrated organization, communication and documentation skill required.

  • Must maintain valid Iowa driver’s license, car insurance and have access to reliable transportation.

  • Must have experience working with adolescent populations.

  • Ability to develop and conduct presentations for various groups and individuals.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations.

  • Knowledge of modern learning theories, principles and techniques.

  • Demonstrated commitment to deliver excellent customer service.

  • Ability to effectively manage own time and schedule own tasks.

  • Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with community.

  • Knowledge of community resources and services.

  • Must be flexible and able to work in adverse situations and with diverse populations.

  • Anticipate and plan for program needs including resource management.

  • Ability to be self motivated and work independently with little direct supervision.

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally in a professional manner.

  • Demonstrated competency in computer skills.
