TownNews.com, a technology firm in the Quad Cities area seeks an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud Administrator to join our systems administration team. Our complete solutions suite includes add-ons for data management, content exchange, over-the-top (OTT) video, business directory and more.Job Responsibilities:The Cloud Administrator will report to the Director of Network Operations. This position is responsible for setup and ongoing support of TownNews’s cloud infrastructure.Must be able to pass federal background investigation. Must be located in (or willing to relocate to) Quad-City area.Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining Townnews cloud computing infrastructure and all related information systems across multiple sites.

  • Participate in on-call rotation, respond to after-hours requests and/or issues

  • Work alongside systems and development teams to support transition and operation of client web sites / applications in and out of AWS.

  • Deploying, managing, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems on AWS

  • Identifying appropriate use of AWS operational best practices

  • Estimating AWS costs and identifying operational cost control mechanisms

  • Keep technical documentation up to date

  • Proactively keep up to date on AWS services and developments

  • You will monitor alerts for OS, storage, application and infrastructure to keep track of problems proactively

  • You will lead data/service migration projects

Job Requirements:

  • 2-4 or more years of hands-on experience operating AWS-based applications

  • Experience provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running on AWS

  • Ability to create scripts for AWS command line tools using bash, python, JSON, etc.

  • AWS related certification highly desired

  • Ability to identify and gather requirements to define a solution to be built and operated on AWS

  • Capabilities to provide AWS operations and deployment guidance and best practices throughout the lifecycle of a project

  • Experience with application / data migration to/from AWS

  • Experience scaling an application and/or its hosting environment to support increases in traffic

  • 5 – 7 Experience with Windows and/or Linux

  • Experience with alerting services such as Nagios

  • Experience with NGINX and the HTTP protocol.

  • Experience with configuration and management software such as RPM, GIT, Puppet or Chef

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Deployment experience using common AWS technologies like VPC, Elastic Load Balancing, Application Load Balancing, lambda and regionally distributed EC2 instances, Docker, and more.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment

  • Detail-oriented, strong work ethic and high standard of excellence

  • Fast learner, Achiever, sets high personal goals

  • Must be able to work on multiple projects and consistently meet project deadlines

Desired Certification:

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate level or equivalent
